Foundation in Lithuanian Language

Duration: 6 Months

1. PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Foundation in Lithuanian Language is a comprehensive 6-month language training program designed to build learners’ proficiency from beginner to elementary-intermediate level (CEFR A1–A2). This program focuses on developing practical communication skills required for everyday life, workplace environments, and social integration in Lithuania.

The course follows a structured modular approach (24 modules), where learners progressively develop their abilities in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Starting from basic language concepts, the program gradually introduces expanded vocabulary, grammar structures, and real-life communication scenarios, enabling learners to communicate with greater confidence and accuracy.

Throughout the program, learners engage in interactive and practice-oriented learning, including role plays, group discussions, listening exercises, reading tasks, and writing activities. Special emphasis is placed on functional communication, such as workplace interaction, service communication, and cultural understanding.

By the end of the program, learners will be able to communicate effectively in routine and familiar situations, understand commonly used expressions, and participate in simple conversations in both social and professional contexts. The program also enhances learners’ ability to read short texts, write simple paragraphs, and understand spoken Lithuanian in everyday settings.

In addition, the program introduces learners to Lithuanian culture, social norms, and communication etiquette, supporting smooth integration into Lithuanian society and work environments.

This program is ideal for international students, migrants, job seekers, and professionals who wish to develop practical Lithuanian language skills for education, employment, or daily communication purposes.

The curriculum is aligned with European language standards (CEFR A1–A2) and structured in accordance with Lithuania’s Educational Support Services (85.61) framework, ensuring quality, flexibility, and full legal compliance as a non-degree professional training program.
